Once in a Blue Moon

PSA: For all of you that are superstitious, there will be a blue moon this Halloween. Some of you may have just decided to cancel the holiday and will be spending it alone and away from anyone and anything that may result in impending doom. I’m not that superstitious. But the whole idea of a blue moon got me thinking.     If someone were to look at how you lived to the fullest, would they say you did it “once in a blue moon”? Jesus says He came to give us life. Not just eternal life. Life here on this earth. And this life that Jesus offers us is not just the everyday mundane tasks that must be accomplished every twenty-four hours in order to survive. He promises life MORE ABUNDANT.   What does life more abundant look like for you? Maybe it’s time to step out on faith and ask for that new job. Perhaps you want to help those that cannot help themselves, and you should begin working as a volunteer. Maybe it’s a phone call to check in with someone that’s been on y...

Lost and Found

My kids, especially my teenager, are notorious for “losing” things. It always amuses my husband that I can literally walk into the chaos of their rooms and retrieve the missing item within five minutes. I’m not sure if all moms have this gift to hone in on what’s missing, but it has proven to be a blessing in our household. Do you ever wonder if God feels that way about us? I think so. I just have to move the stacks that have congested my space.    How easy it is for us to look at the chaos around us and forget where we put God and what He wants for us.  The solution to this predicament is simple. Get alone with God. Do some house cleaning. Shred the old stacks that no longer matter. Focus on the Creator who simply wants us in relationship with Him.    Jesus taught us the necessity of tim...

#BeLikeChuck

This blog is dedicated to the memory of my dear friend and pastor, Chuck Glass.  Pastor Chuck was authentic with a zest for life that was not easily matched. I had the pleasure of knowing him for many years and serving with him at our church.  Pastor Chuck believed that we could all do something. He was always doing something. Being the good. In fact, in his final moments on this earth, he was en route to distribute materials and offer assistance to Hurricane Laura victims in Louisiana when he was tragically killed in a vehicle accident.  If anything, he taught us to live fiercely.   It is my fervent prayer that Pastor Chuck’s life and death continues to drive me to impact the world around me. So this is my feeble attempt at being the good. Showing encouragement. Sharing my heart.  The verse we have held to during this tragedy is 1 Corinthians 11:1, “And you should imitate me as I imitate Christ.” He left a tremendous example for us to follow.  Thank you fo...
